first animatic put together in after effects

This is the first animatic i have put together for lors project. I have gotten the rough voice over work from her and put that to the images. I put this together after going through each scene individually and doing storyboard stills in more detail from the rough storyboard i created.I did that in photoshop and resized all the images and then saved them and exported them into after effects where i then proceeded to put together the first rough timings for the animatic.

At this time i have asked lor to focus on getting the voice over recordings done and to check that any music or sound effects she wants and royalty free.

Work for laura for the games course

After agreeing with my friend laura form the games design course that I would be able to produce some work for her if she credited me for it (so I can then use it for my own dissemination section) We then spoke about what areas of the project she would like me to do for her. But first of all I asked laura to check with her tutor to make sure it would be ok for me to do this work for her, with me being several levels higher then her in my education.
After I asked her to do that I asked what the project was actually about. The assignment is to animate the first 60secs of a prolouge of a book, and it must be done in 2d with various sounds and effects.
For the amount of time we have left on this project (a few weeks) 60secs is a lot of animation to do, especially since laura hasn't done any of the necessary pre production. So the first thing we talked about was what she had done so far for the project which unfortunatly turned out to be not all that much. She is finding understanding animation quite difficult and I spoke to her about the steps that need to be taken before we can begin any animation at all. As you can't dive straight in to animation, you have to plan. This is why pre production is so important when it comes to animation because it allows you to get your camera angles and timings perfect before you move on. This way it helps to stop any problems later on.
The first thing you need to do when starting an animation is usually creating te script, then the rough storyboard, char designs, neat story board, colour boards,sounds,animatic... these are just the basic things someone has to consider when first creating an animation. without it timings are off and camera angles and the actions in the scene all fall apart so it is vital that the pre production gets done asap.
It was agreed that I would crack on with the pre production while she trys to sort out the sound for the piece. Laura said there may be a chance that the pre production wont get marked but as i told her, you cant go straight into animation without it so its not a stage you can skip.
Ill be working on the storyboards over the next few days.

freelance opportunity with friend

For part of my dissemination I will design and create a website which will feature work of mine from various courses throughout my academic career.Dating back from my college foundation course right through to my masters project.
Part of this website will include a freelance section where I will showcase work I have done for other people.
During a conversation between my friend Laura and I, who is currently on her first year of a video game design course, She expressed an interest in me doing some work for her for her current project. The project involves animation and is something which she is finding particularly difficult and stressful as it is something which she hasn't done before.
She asked if I could assist her over msn in some way and I said that with my masters course being so time intensive the only way I would be able to help her in any way is if she either paid me for my work, or if it benifitied my course in some way, as I just don't have time to take on multiple projects right now.
After discussing things through more over msn we came to the agreement that whatever work I produce for her, I will be credited for so I can then use the project work for my dissemination freelance section. This has worked out great because it means I can produce work for her and not take any time out of my own uni work. Even though I will be focusing on a different section of my project I will still be working towards my final goal.
